The Emporikon Hotel is situated in the historic center of Athens on Aiolou Street, steps from both the Acropolis and Syntagma Square. Located on St. Eirini Square, the building is at the epicentre of social life in the city centre, connected by a network of pedestrian streets to the latest stores, restaurants and bar venues.

Originally also known as «Market Street» in the early 19th century, the commercial character of Aiolou Street and the surrounding neighborhood has been well-preserved throughout the 20th century in the form of family-owned shops specializing in small-scale industry and locally manufactured products.

The name «Emporikon» is Greek for «commercial» and attests to the building’s bustling market vicinity at the time of its construction in the second half of the 19th century. It functioned as a hotel since its inception, although it fell into disuse and finally abandonment in the early 1960’s. As an exceptional five-storey Art Nouveau and Neoclassical style building, the hotel is being fully restored as a preservationist landmark. The entry and several rooms are exquisitely detailed with wall and ceiling painting fully restored. The original central wooden staircase remains intact, adding to the exquisite atmosphere.
